Theme app Extension - Uses and How to enable

To display Kite’s discount widgets (such as progress bars, pop-ups, or tiered discount banners) to your customers, you must enable the Kite Theme App Extension within your Shopify Theme Editor. If this is disabled, your active widgets will remain completely hidden on the storefront.

Kite uses Shopify’s native Theme App Extensions (specifically App Embeds) to inject our widgets into your storefront seamlessly and safely.

There are three easy ways to enable this extension:

Method 1: From the Kite Home Screen

1. Navigate to the Home screen inside the Kite app.
2. Locate the Theme App Extension status banner.
3. Click the Enable App button. You will be redirected to your Shopify Theme Editor with the Kite extension automatically toggled on.
4. Click Save in the top right corner of the Theme Editor.

Method 2: During Discount Setup

1. While creating or modifying a discount, scroll down to the storefront widget configuration section.
2. If your extension is currently disabled, a warning banner will appear here.
3. Click the prompt within the banner to be routed directly to your Theme Editor. The Kite extension will automatically toggle on.
4. Click Save.

Method 3: Manually via the Shopify Admin

1. Go to your Shopify Admin and navigate to Online Store > Themes.
2. Click Customize on your current theme to open the Theme Editor.
3. On the left-hand sidebar, click the App embeds icon (the block with a plus sign).
4. Search for "Kite" and toggle the switch to the ON position.
5. Click Save.

Technical Note / Limitation:

Test Mode vs. Live Mode: Once you hit "Save" in the Theme Editor, the extension is technically live on whichever theme you edited. If you are configuring Kite in "Test Mode" on a draft theme, ensure you are previewing that specific draft theme to see the widgets. The widgets will only go live to your customers when the theme containing the enabled App Embed is published.

Troubleshooting Checklist: If your widgets still aren't showing up after following the steps above, verify the following:

• Did you save your changes? Toggling the app embed is not enough; you must explicitly hit the Save button in the Shopify Theme Editor.
• Are you editing the correct theme? Ensure you enabled the App Embed on the exact theme (Live or Draft) where you are currently testing the widgets.
• Is the discount active? The widget will only display if the associated discount is currently active and valid.
