# Setting up Order discounts

You can set up an Order Discount in the Kite dashboard to apply a percentage or fixed amount off a customer's entire cart. Kite allows you to configure this as an automatic discount or a manual code, set targeting rules (like minimum spend or specific markets), and display the offer using customizable widgets like banners or progress bars across your store.

Setting up an Order Discount requires configuring the discount logic and designing the display widget. Follow these steps:

**Step 1: Core Configuration**

1. Open the Kite dashboard, click on **Create Promotion**, and select **Order discount**.
2. **Name your discount:**
   * *Discount Name:* This is the customer-facing name visible in the cart and at checkout.
   * *Internal Name:* Used only in your Kite dashboard for tracking purposes.
3. Choose the trigger: Select whether the discount applies **Automatically** at checkout or requires a manual **Discount Code**.

**Step 2: Values & Requirements**

1. **Discount Type:** Choose between a **Percentage** (e.g., 10% off) or a **Fixed Amount** (e.g., $10 off). You can set different discount values for different markets or currencies.
2. **Minimum Requirements:** Define what it takes to trigger the offer. You can choose:
   * No requirement.
   * Minimum purchase amount (e.g., Spend $100).
   * Minimum quantity of items (e.g., Buy at least 2 products).

**Step 3: Eligibility & Scheduling**

1. **Combinations:** If you want this order discount to stack with other offers (Product, Order, or Shipping discounts), enable the specific combinations here.
2. **Targeting:**
   * *Sales Channel / URLs:* Restrict the offer to specific POS channels, or use a **Custom URL** to make the discount accessible only via a private link.
   * *Markets:* Limit the offer to specific countries/markets.
   * *Customer Eligibility:* Target specific customer tags, Shopify segments, or require the user to be logged in.
   * *Purchase Type:* Apply the discount to one-time purchases, subscriptions, or both (with the option to limit it to the first subscription order).
3. **Scheduling:** Set the campaign to run continuously, or specify a start and end date/time.

**Step 4: Widget Customization** Once the logic is saved, you can design how the offer is presented to your customers:

1. **Placements:** Add the widget to your Homepage, Product page, Collection page, Cart page, or Side Cart.
2. **Widget Types:** Choose between an Announcement Bar, a Banner, or a Progress Bar.
3. **Content & Design:** Customize text, colors, icon sizes, and widget width. You can also add interactive elements like a countdown timer, a "Shop Now" button, and multi-language support for international markets.
